Chilean President Urges Unasur To Tackle Global Crisis
LIMA - Chilean President Michelle Bachelet on Friday urged the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) to tackle the global financial crisis which threatens to drag behind the economic growth of its member states.

"This crisis will affect the investments flow and the import demand in the zone, and it is a tragedy for our regional economy to be retarded by the crisis," Bachelet said in the Bolivian city of Cochabamba.

According to information reaching here from La Paz, Bolivia's administrative capital, Bachelet called for actions at a meeting to tackle the international financial crisis, strengthen global regulations and find new balance between global and domestic economy.

"The Unasur will discuss how to solve the current financial crisis," Bachelet said.

Bachelet's proposal was supported by her Bolivian counterpart Evo Morales.

"I'm sure that we can solve the social problems and handle this financial crisis. It is not important to ask for investments and solutions from the developed countries," Morales said.
