Russia Highly Present in
Latin America
MOSCOW - The Russian
cultural weeks in Latin
America constitute an
unprecedented deed in
the last 20 years of
relations, said Eleanora
Mitrofanova, director of
the International
Cooperation Center
Wednesday.
Russia will be
represented in great
events for the first
time during the
celebration of the
Russian Days in Latin
America, said
Mitrofanova in a press
round Wednesday.
The cultural event is
sponsored by the
diplomatic mission and
the Ministry of Culture,
to be developed in seven
Latin American countries
(Cuba, Costa Rica,
Brazil, Argentina,
Paraguay, Chile and
Venezuela) between
October 17 and November
17.
She considered the
project is based on the
dynamic of the economic
links and the intense
political contacts
between the governments,
and as a second factor,
the presence of a strong
Russian diaspora, forged
in different historical
periods.
According to the source,
the week includes a wide
cultural program with
the performance of a
male voices chorus, from
the monastery of
Sretenski, and photo
exhibits on a new vision
of Russia.
A moment awaited by a
lot of Russian people
and the Latin American
public is the Russian
Cinema Festival as part
of the event, said
Alexei Shalashov,
director of the
department of
contemporary art and
international links of
the Russian Ministry of
Culture.
The program includes the
exhibition of about
seven films, more than
five documentaries and
cartoons in the cities
of Havana, Brasilia,
Buenos Aires and
Santiago de Chile.
As one of the promoters
of the project, the
International
Cooperation Center in
Science and Culture
organized the parallel
celebration of business
forums in Cuba,
Argentina, Brazil and
Chile.
The delegation is formed
by 200 people that will
leave this Friday for
Havana, Cuba, as the
first destination of the
tour, among
parliamentary deputies,
political, religious
leaders, cultural
personalities and
managers.
