PriceSmart To Open
Alajuela Store in April
PriceSmart is getting
ready to open its fifth
warehouse store in
April, the latest to be
located in Alajuela.
Carla Chaves, marketing
manager, said Alajuela
was chosen following a
market study of the
potential of buyers in
the area and its
surroundings.
The first PriceSmart
opened in Zapote in 1998
followed up with stores
in Tibás, Escazú and
Heredia. The wholesale
retailer now employes
450, soon to be 600 with
the opening of the
Alajuela locale, and has
210.000 members.
The Alajuela store that
should be ready to open
Easter Week is located
in front of Mutual
Alajuela and will cost
the company us$5 million
dollars.
PriceSmart with its head
office in San Diego,
California, where it has
one store and stores in
addition to Costa Rica
in 10 other countries
including four in
Panama, and three each
in Guatemala, Trinidad
and Tobago; two each in
the Dominican Republic,
El Salvador and
Honduras; and one each
in Aruba, Barbados,
Jamaica and Nicaragua.
