March Against Violence
The strong winds and showers didn't stop the family members of victims of violence from holding their protest march in downtown San Jose. More than 2.000 people showed up for the protest march called "Ni un minuto más", in an attempt to curb violence in the country.

Another protest is scheduled for this week, possibly tomorrow (Tuesday) in front of the Sala Constitucional (Constittuional Court) by women who are demanding the court restore the legality of criminalizing violence against women in the home.

Yesterday's protest began at 10am from the Parque Central, moving to the front of the Tribunales de Justicia. Avenida Segunda was completely blocked off to vehicular traffic for most of the monring.

Protestors collected some 1.500 signatures from seniors that will be delivered to the three levels of power in the country, demanding that authorities eradicate impunity and that citizens be able to move about freely without having to worry about being victims of crime, a just judicial system and more protection for witnesses.

Hannia López, a mother who lost her son to violence, said Friday more signatures will be collected and little by little she hopes they will obtain more and more support for their cause before presenting the document to the powers.

López added that the country's universities have given her group their support.
