Gasoline Tax Hikes Price
This Morning; Big Drop
Expected Next Week
The first relief of high
gasoline prices will be
felt on Wednesday when
the price of a litre of
super gasoline drops ¢52
colones, regular ¢46 and
diesel ¢3.
However, this morning
the price of a litre of
super gasoline snuck up
¢4, regular ¢5, and
diesel ¢3, due to an
increase in the tax on
gasoline products. The
adjustments is a
quarterly tax adjustment
by the ministerio de
Hacienda (tax people),
who have increased their
bite of gasoline.
With the change approved
by the Autoridad
Reguladora de los
Servicios Públicos (Aresep),
next Wednesday the price
of a litre of super
gasoline will drop to
¢640 colones, regular
¢624 and diesel ¢609.
The big drop that will
see gasoline prices
below the ¢500 colones
mark is expected by the
middle of December, when
the price of a litre of
super is expected to
drop ¢152 colones,
regular ¢150 and diesel
¢87. Those drops are
currently being studied
by the Aresep.
