Gasoline Tax Hikes Price This Morning; Big Drop Expected Next Week
The first relief of high gasoline prices will be felt on Wednesday when the price of a litre of super gasoline drops ¢52 colones, regular ¢46 and diesel ¢3.

However, this morning the price of a litre of super gasoline snuck up ¢4, regular ¢5, and diesel ¢3, due to an increase in the tax on gasoline products. The adjustments is a quarterly tax adjustment by the ministerio de Hacienda (tax people), who have increased their bite of gasoline.

With the change approved by the Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios Públicos (Aresep), next Wednesday the price of a litre of super gasoline will drop to ¢640 colones, regular ¢624 and diesel ¢609.

The big drop that will see gasoline prices below the ¢500 colones mark is expected by the middle of December, when the price of a litre of super is expected to drop ¢152 colones, regular ¢150 and diesel ¢87. Those drops are currently being studied by the Aresep.
