Zapote Fair Licenses Set Record
The year end Zapote Fair is getting closer and yesterday the bar, restaurants and "chinamo" franchises were auctioned, raising
¢217 million colones in revenue for the Municipalidad de San José.

The price for the stands and licenses was much greater than the
¢150 million raised last year.

The municipality still has to auction off the franchises for the rides and games that are a traditional part of the fair, as none of the bidders at the auction made an offer.

The megabares (mega bars) as usual went to the hands of the Cervecería, the national brewery.

The Zapote Fair, the largest of the fairs in the country, kicks of at noon on Christmas Day and runs into the first week of January, followed by similar, albeit smaller fairs, in the towns and villages.

The more notable fairs apart from Zapote is Palmares and Puntarenas.
