Bioethics, Terror
Several Venezuelan
institutions convened a
debate for May 27 on
bioethics, biosecurity
and bioterrorism to
update related laws.
Experts from the
Ministries of Science
and Technology, Trade,
Light Industry,
Agriculture and Land,
and Universidad
Bolivariana de Venezuela
announced attendance
with unions and
community councils.
The organizers consider
that those concepts are
related to basic matters
like society,
environment and
economics.
In their view, bioethics
rules behaviour towards
living beings, "so we
must check educational
models to address
problems like respect of
other forms of life, not
just human."
Biosecurity is the safe
use of biological and
genetic resources that
must include
agricultural productive
model, staff training
and setting up an
infrastructure able to
secure quality and
immunity of vaccines,
seeds and bioproducts.
Bio-terrorism has
currently gained a
life-threatening scale
because of the use of
biological technologies
and potentially lethal
pathogens. |
