Food Crisis Harms People
in El Salvador

Salvador population,
with more than two
million inhabitants who
are under the threshold
of poverty, local
sources reported
Wednesday.
According to World Food
Programme representative
Carlo Scaramella, the
law nutritional levels
due to basic products
shortage and rise in
prices hit the physical
and intellectual
development of people.
Likewise, he assures, it
evidences the poor
development of the
nation, where the 30.7
percent of Salvadorians
live with limited
economic resources.
The rising prices of the
basic food products,
attributed to the high
costs of oil and to the
impact of climatic
change, blocs access to
food products and in the
short term will cause a
going-back in the fight
against poverty, he
