Leaves Its Mark In The
US
For the fourth time,
Costa Rican students
participated in the
International Fair of
Science and Engineering
(ISEF / INTEL), held in
the United States from
12 to May 18, with
sponsorship from Intel
Components of Costa
Rica.
Pedro Sanabria, 18, and
Natalia Rodríguez, 19,
made their mark at the
fair with their
ingenious design of a
cane for the blind.
Sanabria and Rodríguez
are graduates of the
Técnico Don Bosco and
won their place with
their project Elwast, a
cane that vibrates to
help the blind,
receiving a prize of
us$2.000.
In addition, the
Instituto Tecnológico de
Monterrey in Mexico,
recognized Natalia's
contribution to the
development by offer her
a scholarship that will
cover 90% of her school
costs for the next five
years. The scholarship
is valued at us$52.000.
Competing at the fair
were students from all
US states and 40
countries. It is
estimated that each year
3-5 million students
conducting research
projects and 1,200 of
these earn the right to
compete in the
International Fair .
