Intersectoral Buses Ready To Rool
On June 2 some 100 yellow buses are expected to take to the streets operating the routes known as "intersectoriales" that is expected to ease traffic congestion in the downtown core and make bus travel much easier for thousands.

The date is not exact, as the vice-minister of the Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes (MOPT), Vivian Martín, would only confirm that the buses will start rolling at the end of the month.

The buses are expected to run every 10 minutes during rush hours and every 20 minutes during normal hours, connecting communities like Escazú with Alajuelita, La Uruca with Pavas, etc., making travel between the various communities easier and eliminating the need to travel to downtown San José for a transfer.

Also the intersectoral routes will reduce travel time.

For example, travelling to and from Escazú and Alajuelita, neighbouring communities, one has to travel to and from downtown San José for a transfer to and from the Escazú and Alajuelita buses.

The cost of the intersectoral bus is ¢350 colones.

In total there will be seven intersectoral buses routes which are expected to reduce bus traffic in the downtown core by 30% or some 900 buses.
