Limón A Hotbed Of
Violence
Following a week of
bloodshed where 11
people were murdered,
residents are calling
for police action to put
an end to the violence.
The week began last
Saturday (June 14) with
the assassination of two
young men, dying at the
hands of fellow gang
members thanks to the
alleged collaboration of
two police officers.
Five more murders
followed during the week
and four more in the
early morning of Friday.
All four bodies were
found on the streets of
Limón with gunshot
wounds.
Crimes of passion and
vengeance are the main
reasons behind many of
the murders in the
Caribbean province.
According to the Cruz
Roja (Red Cross), there
have been 73 deaths
registered in Limón this
year, one out of every
four were murdered.
