Act Frozen
Venezuela"s Interior and
Justice Minister Ramon
Rodríguez Chacin said on
Monday that the national
Intelligence and
Counterintelligence Act
is currently frozen and
officially under study.
It was not abolished,
but it is under
revision, checked
against suggestions from
the Cabinet, and it is
expected to be subject
to the Supreme Court and
to President Hugo Chavez
for approval, said the
minister.
By criticizing sections
of this regulation, the
head of State showed a
profound humane sense
and his capacity to
listen to others and
rectify if needed, noted
Rodriguez Chacin.
Chavez announced on
Saturday that he had
ordered a revision and,
in case needed, a
modification of the
recently decreed Act on
the National
Intelligence and
Counterintelligence
System.
At a political gathering
in Maracaibo, the
president said these
regulations have some
inaccuracies and even
items that may be
considered wrong or
badly written.
