Nicaragua Stresses Cuban
Revolution Example
Commander Tomas Borge
Martinez, historical
leader and founder of
the Sandinista Front for
National Liberation (FSLN),
stressed the example of
the Cuban Revolution in
the 55th anniversary of
the Moncada Barrack
attack.
"The Nicaraguan
Revolution triumphed
thanks to the victory of
the Cuban Revolution,"
Borge stated Sunday
addressing a social
organizations act
assembled in the
Coordinator of
Solidarity with Cuba in
occasion of the National
Rebelliousness Day.
The also Nicaraguan
ambassador to Peru
referred to the recent
speech by President Hugo
Chavez for the 29th
anniversary of the
Sandinista Revolution
when he talked of "Our
Father which art in land
and have caused
uneasiness in rightwing
groups."
"Chavez means," he
noted, "that the
greatest man who has
produced the
contemporary history is
named Fidel Castro,
actually the father of
all revolutionaries of
the world."
Borge, who revealed
during the act two
letters from the Cuban
Five, talked of the
brotherhood existing
between both peoples and
of the same way that
Cubans fought in
Nicaragua, Nicaraguans
have provided efforts to
defeat
counterrevolutionary
bands in the Escambray
mountain range, in
center Cuba, and in the
Bay of Pig invasion.
Jose Antonio Lopez,
political adviser at the
Cuban embassy in
Nicaragua, greeted and
expressed gratitude for
the Nicaraguan people
solidarity and retold
the struggle against the
Fulgencio Batista
dictatorship led by
Fidel.
Lopez also mentioned
achievements reached in
the almost 50 years of
revolution despite the
blockade and recalled
the Nicaraguan fighters
who joined with Cubans
in the struggle against
imperialism.
FSLN deputy Alba
Palacios and Edgardo
Garcia, president of the
Coordinator of
Solidarity with Cuba,
among other guests,
attended the activity.
