INTERPOL Captures
Forgers in Bolivia
INTERPOL dismantled a
band of four people who
forged passports for
Bolivians interested in
traveling to Spain and
other European
countries, judicial
sources reported.
According to INTERPOL,
the police and officials
of the District
Attorney's Office, over
70 stamps with forged
logos of several
institutions plus two
computers with
information about travel
agencies' procedures
were confiscated from
those arrested,
including a woman.
Some of the institutions
are the National
Election Court, the
Department of Interior
and the consulates of
Spain, Chile, Paraguay
and El Salvador.
INTERPOL officials
explained they had been
monitoring the group for
a month, after noticing
that Paraguayan and
Chilean passports were
being brought to
Bolivia, to be sold to
Bolivian citizens and
make their entry to
Europe easier.
The accused also forged
other documents like
national and foreign
identity cards, and bank
and vaccination
certificates.
