Guatemalan President:
Safety in Four Months
President of Guatemala
Alvaro Colom asserted on
Friday that in four
months the population
will start noticing
safety countrywide and
demanded people's
collaboration to win the
battle against criminal
groups.
He lamented the killing
of ten public
transportation workers
this week and admitted
that attacks against
this sector will not
stop overnight.
Colom termed very
positive that service
has been totally
restored in the capital,
despite the situation
witnessed in the last
five days, when armed
attacks intensified.
He also reiterated his
decision to serve all
pledges made during the
electoral campaign,
particularly to curb
high violence indexes,
restore peace and quiet
in the society and
regain confidence in the
National Civil Police. |
