Dollar Appreciates Again
The down trend of the
dollar exchange to the
colon didn't last too
long, by yesterday
afternoon the exchange
was at the same level
before last weeks steep
decline.
The Central Bank
reference rate was
posted in the morning at
˘540.59 for the buy and
˘552.83 for the sell,
climbing to ˘547.66 and
˘558.14 by the end of
the day.
The rate at the banks
higher than the levels
before the big drop that
began on Wednesday 26
November and hit a low
of ˘523 at some banks on
Monday 01 December.
The state bank, the
Banco de Costa Rica (BCR),
yesterday posted an
exchange rate of ˘552.50
for the buy and ˘562.50
for the sell. The other
state banks followed
suit.
At the private banks,
Banco CMB is the leader
with the highest
exchange rate, ˘554 for
the buy and ˘562 for the
sell, while the other
banks, Scotiabank, HSBC,
Citibank, for example,
all ranged between ˘550
and ˘552 for the buy and
˘559 and ˘564 for the
sell.
