Avenida Segunda To Get
Badly Needed Facelift
Get ready for some
traffic mayhem as the
Ministerio de Obras
Públicas y Transportes (MOPT)
begins to repave the
badly needed work on
Avenida Segunda.
The Avenida is the main
thoroughfare into San
Jose and is one of the
worst roads, full of
potholes, uneven
pavement, all sorts of
patches and open
manholes.
The work will begin once
the MOPT finishes work
on repaving the La Uruca
radial.
Pedro Castro, MOPT
vice-minister, said the
work will be carried out
mainly at night and will
entail removing 10cm (4
inches) of the current
road surface, levelling
the road and laying out
a new asphalt surface.
The work is to cost some
¢100 millones for each
kilometre of repair.
