Honduras Intensifies
Anti-Dug Actions
TEGUCIGALPA - The
Honduran Armed Forces
intensified its actions
against drug traffic in
Gracias a Dios
department, in the
Caribbean, Joint General
Saff Chief Romeo Vasquez
confirmed on Friday.
The officer explained
that the operations in
the area, with more
boats and more personnel
have favored positive
results, palpable in the
most recent drug
seizures.
Naval forces seized 2584
pounds of cocaine this
week in the Honduran
Caribbean waters.
Vasquez highlighted that
they supported the
Attorney General's
Office for Struggle
against Organized Crime,
because bringing cocaine
into the Central
American country causes
internal problems.
He explained that the
cocaine seized in the
Gracias a Dios area for
years amounts to tons.
He highlighted the need
for joint work among
regional countries, due
to the threat of drug
traffic, terrorism and
weapon smuggling.
