Denies Same Sex Partners
Appeal For Conjugal
Visits
The Sala Constitucional
(Constitutional Court)
or Sala IV as it is
often referred to, has
reject a "recurso amparo"
(appeal) by a homosexual
man who was asking for
and refused conjugal
visits.
The former inmate
identified only by his
last names Chávez
Godínez was in prison
for six months where he
began a romatic
relationship with
another prisoner.
Chávez was paroled,
however, continued to
visit his partner when
he was denied a conjugal
visit by prison
officials and prompted
his appeal to the Sala
IV who handed down on
Friday their decision to
deny the appeal.
The Chávez case is not
the first, nor will it
be the last, of requests
made to prison officials
to allow conjugal visits
between same sex
partners.
According to the
Dirección de Adaptación
(prison authorities),
conjugal visits will not
be allow until the
current law is modified. |
