Poll Indicates Drop In
Insecurity
The perception of
insecurity dropped 9.9%
according to the latest
poll by Demoscopía for
the Spanish language
daily, Al Día.
The percentage of Costa
Ricans who feel
insecurity is the main
problem today dropped
from 39.4% to 29.5%,
according to the latest
poll.
In addition, the poll
indicates that the
number of Costa Ricans
falling victims of crime
in the past several
months dropped from
54.6% in April to 48.6%
in July.
Notwithstanding the
drop, there is an
increase in the feeling
that the government is
doing a "bad" job at
solving the security
problem. The poll shows
that 42.1% polled in
July say the government
is not handling the
security problem well,
compared to 31.5% in
April.
Security is the most
pressing subject for
Ticos, more so than
poverty and
unemployment, which is
expected to worsen.
Following security,
18.7% of Costa Ricans
are concerned about the
rise in the cost of
living.
The poll was taken
between July 19 and 27
and took in the answers
of 1.213 adults all over
the country and has a
margin of error o 2.8%.
