Federal Police Officer Arrested In Brazil For Illegal Gambling
Brazilian police on Friday arrested 13 people, including a federal police officer, for being linked to an illegal gambling gang that operated slot machines in the Teresopolis area in Rio de Janeiro state.

An earlier operation in June had led to the arrest of five suspects and the seizure of 25 slot machines.

Those arrested Friday included the head of the Investigations Department in Teresopolis police district. He is accused of revealing likely police operations to pub owners, so they would have time to hide the slot machines.

Nine cars, several documents and 70,000 reais (43,750 U.S. dollars) in cash were also seized during the operation.

Slot machines, bingo halls and casinos are easily found all over Brazil, even though they are illegal.
