Honduran Congress Rejects EU Regulation
Honduras' National Congress decided to declare before international bodies its nonconformity with the European Union migratory policy, especially the recently approved Return Directive against illegal immigrants.

Congresspeople agreed to express their rejection of the directive, which may mean deportation to over 3,000 Hondurans from different territories in the Old Continent, before the UN General Secretariat and the European, Latin American and Central American Parliaments, El Hearldo daily reported on Friday.

The initiative was promoted by Congress member Rodolfo Irias, who was unanimously backed by his Congressional peers, as he said the EU regulation penalizes efforts made by those who go to European countries just looking for jobs, thus contributing significantly to those countries' economies.
