Some 1.300 have signed
up for the "Deje y Gane"
contest by the
Alcoholismo y
Farmacodependencia (IAFA)
that induces people to
stop smoking. The first
prize winner in the
contest will receive
us$2.000 dollars.
The IAFA explained that
five finalists who quit
smoking between May 1
and May 28 will be
chosen for the five
prices.
The finalists will
undergo a urine test to
ensure that their are
nicotine free before
they can claim their
prize.
The IAFA says that it
will follow up on the
contest winners to see
if they really quit for
good. Contestants in
past contests were made
up fo 70% men and that
an average of 25% of
those that took part in
the contest quit for
good.

Second place winner will
receive us$1.599, a trip
to Tortuga island for
two and medical checkup;
third place winner will
receive us$500, a 20"
colour television;
fourth and fifth places
will receive us$500
each.
Contestants are required
to be over the age of
