Taxi Plate Owners Win
The Right to Pass On
Plate To Family
The ownership of a taxi
plate in Costa Rica had
always guaranteed the
owner a way of making a
living while alive and
his/her family upon
death.
However, changes in the
taxi concessions last
September took away that
right and since then
taxi owners have been
fighting to recover it.
Last week the Ministra
de Obras Públicas y
Transportes (MOPT)
signed a decree
re-instating the right
of the family to inherit
the taxi concession.
Taxi owners now say they
will fight for a law
that maintains that
right forever.
Currently there are
12.000 taxi plates
issues in the country. |
