Imperial Festival
Expects 50.000 This
Weekend
Organizers expect some
50.000 visitors - 25.000
each day - to La Guacima
for the Imperial
festival that will see
Duran Duran, Smashing
Pumpkins, Incubus and
Café Tacuba take to the
stage Saturday and
Sunday.
The concert opens its
doors at 10:00am, but
the beer doesn't start
flowing until after
4:00pm and sales are
limited only to those
over the age of 18.
Some 700 officials of
the Fuerza Pública
(police), Tránsito
(traffic police) and
Cruz Roja (Red Cross)
and private security
will be on hand to keep
the peace, drunk drivers
off the roads and attend
to emergencies and
generally keep an eye on
the partygoers.
Germán Marín, director
of the traffic police,
said that his some 50 of
his officers will be on
duty and will be holding
spot checks on the
Bernando Soto highway
and other roads leading
to and from the
Autódromo La Guacima.
