Nicaragua Hosts 11th
Central American Book
Fair
Cuban and Venezuelan
specialists are actively
participating at the
11th Central American
Book Fair underway in
Managua, the capital of
Nicaragua, from
September 17 to 22.
The Fair is presenting
the first titles
published by the
Cultural Fund of the
Bolivarian Alternative
for the Americas (ALBA),
a regional integration
project promoted by
Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia
and Nicaragua.
Some 42 publishing
houses from Central
America, Mexico,
Colombia, Spain and Peru
are also participating
in this major cultural
event that will hold its
closing ceremony on
Monday at the National
Palace of Culture in
Managua.
Press releases by the
Bolivarian News Agency
and the La Jornada
Mexican newspaper have
highlighted the
importance of the Fair
for the international
projection of Latin
America's editorial
production.
Nicaragua also aims to
promote its authors and
the habit of reading
amongst its people.
The 11th Central
American Book Fair
includes the launching
of prize-winning
literary works and
lectures on the current
literary panorama in the
region.
