College Students Buying
Answers Not Illegal
A business located in
Alajuela is offering
college students answers
to their Mathematics,
Physics and Chemistry
questions so that "they
can use their time as
they like", the daily La
Nacion reports.
To attract clients, the
company uses the
internet where it
answers questions for a
cost of ˘1.500 colones
and assures that the
answers will be
available within 48
hours.
The company is known as
Universidad Central UC
S.A. and is owned by
Miguel Elizondo which is
not the same Universidad
Central in downtown San
Jose which is accredited
by the Consejo Nacional
de Educación Superior (Conesup).
The company promotes its
services by telling
potential customers that
they can use their time
for "more important"
things by paying for
having their word done
for them.
"Follow you dreams
without the nonsense
that will never serve".
"What do you need
Mathematicas, Chemistry
or Physics for? Exactly,
for nothing", the
company websites tells
potential clients.
Students can send their
questions in by fax or
email and receive an
answer by the same way.
Alejandrina Mata,
vice-minister of
Education, calls the
practice a "barbarity",
however admits that
there is no legal
process to stop it.
Education authorities
confirm that the
practice of providing
answers is not illegal
and any sanctions will
be face by the student,
if and when the
professor can prove that
the answers were paid
