Andean Community at
Climate Forum
Representatives from
member countries of the
Andean Community (CAN)
are meeting Monday in
this capital to analyze
effects of climate
change in the region,
and ways to jointly
alleviate this global
problem.
The forum, entitled
Latin Climate, will
session Monday and
Tuesday in Guayaquil,
and Wednesday and
Thursday in Quito.
This will be "the first
grand international
meeting on climate
change in Latin America,
where the civil society,
national authorities,
and world institutions
will assess problems
caused by global
warming," CAN general
secretary Freddy Ehlers
stressed.
The meeting will allow
to learn about the
situation of climate
patterns in the Andean
zone, achieve a joint
governmental plan and
propose a global
solution, he sustained.
The official warned that
Ecuador, Peru, and
Bolivia are included in
the group of countries
most vulnerable to
global warming.
Ehlers highlighted that
the recommendations made
in this summit will be
brought to the
International Conference
on Climate Change in
December in Bali,
Indonesia. |
