Zapatero-Torrijos Talk
The president of the
Spanish government, Jose
Luis Rodriguez Zapatero
and his Panamanian
counterpart, Martin
Torrijos, meet Monday at
Moncloa Palace, to
discuss the Panama Canal
enlargement, and other
affairs.
The participation of
Spanish companies in the
enlargement of the
inter-oceanic via
centers the talks, after
the leaders had already
dealt with the issue on
July 17 in the
Panamanian capital.
An official note from La
Moncloa indicates
bilateral relations are
excellent and smooth,
and the Ibero-American
dimension is the main
core of Spain's foreign
policy.
It recalls Panama is
currently playing a key
role within the UN
system, as it was chosen
to chair the Anti-terror
Committee during the
2007-2008 period.
Spain and Panama have
signed important
cooperation agreements
in economy, finance, and
investment promotion and
protection, which will
be also examined during
Torrijos' visit. |
