Taxi Fares Increased
Using a taxi got more
expensive yesterday with
the latest round of
price increases going
into effect that sets
the base rate at ¢405
folones and ¢365 colones
for each additional
kilometre.
The increase was
approved by the
Autoridad Reguladora de
los Servicios Públicos (Aresep)
the week before last and
went into effect
yesterday, though not
all taxi have had their
meters adjusted.
The increase represents
a 10% increase in all
taxi fares all over the
country, higher than the
8% requested by the Foro
Nacional de Taxistas.
The Arespe said it fixed
the increase based on
the exchange rate,
increased fuel costs and
salaries registered from
January to September of
this year
