Honduras Demands Funds
to Fight Dengue
Honduran sanitary
authorities called the
government to supply
funds to fight the
dengue epidemic.
Official reports number
the cases in 22,123,
including 1,060 with the
hemorrhagic strain, and
12 have died. The
current figures surpass
the 2006 reports with
5,200 cases of classic
dengue, 63 with
hemorrhagic and five
fatalities.
Interim Health Minister
Jenny Meza requested
some $423,000 to assist
the capital and three
departments that already
issued an alert since
the rainy season is not
over.
