Talk Fonseca Gulf
Today is the first of
three negotiations among
Honduras, Nicaragua and
El Salvador on the
rights of the Gulf of
Fonseca and tomorrow
preliminary results will
be released, announced
Milton Jimenez, Honduran
chancellor.
The official informed
that San Salvador will
host the first meeting
of the technical
commissions, followed by
meetings in Tegucigalpa
and Managua although the
dates have not been
disclosed.
Subjects such as sea
transportation, fishing,
education and the
environment are on the
agenda.
The presidents of the
three nations will issue
a joint communique in
Nicaragua, on Thursday,
Jimenez added.
In 1992 the
International Court of
Justice of The Hague
defined three miles for
exclusive use of each
nation and a region of
joint sovereignty in the
center of the gulf,
however, there are still
questions open for
discussion. |
