Tonight
Maná, the Mexican
pop/rock group will take
to the stage tonight at
the Ricardo Saprissa
stadium to play they
latest album "Amar is
Combatir" (To Love
Is To Fight) that
includes some of their
more recent hits like
"Labios Compartidos".
The stadium is located
in Tibás, north of
downtown San José.
Amar es Combatir is the
seventh studio album
(twenty first overall)
released by the Mexican
band. The album, which
was released in August
22, 2006, became the
band's first release in
three years. On February
11, 2007, the album won
a Grammy Award in the
category of Best Latin
Rock/Alternative Album.
On April 26, 2007 it
received two Billboard
Latin Music Awards.
Maná is from Guadalajara
whose career has spanned
almost three decades.
They initially received
notoriety and commercial
success in Latin America
and Spain and have
since, gained popularity
and exposure in the US,
Western Europe, Asia,
and the Middle East.
The band was first
organized in 1980 under
the name of Sombrero
Verde (Green Hat). The
band began by singing
covers in English, but
then added Spanish
numbers to their
repertoire. In 1981,
they recorded their
first album, Sombrero
Verde. Their second
album, A Ritmo de Rock
appeared in 1983.
Led by Fher Olvera, the
other members of the
band are Alex González,
Sergio Vallín, Juan
