Use of Commuter Train
Almost Doubles
Facing high gasoline
prices and rising taxi
and bus fares, more and
more people are taking
the commuter train,
according to the
Instituto Costarricense
de Ferrocarriles (INCOFER).
INCOFER say that the use
of the commuter train
has gone from 50.000 to
90.000 and as such as
increased the number of
trains and frequency.
INCOFER has said that an
increase in train fares
is expected soon, but
did not say when and how
much.
The commuter train began
operations in October
2005, providing service
between San Pedro and
the downtown San José
and Pavas. |
