Salvadorans: Look to Social Needs
A Technological University (UTEC) survey of
2,117 people released Thursday shows 70.48
percent of the Salvadorian population considers
the government overlooks important social
situations in the country.
A great part of the seven million inhabitants of
this nation believes President Antonio Saca s
administration does not offer immediate
solutions to the basic needs of the people, such
as the high cost of living and the prevailing
crime.
A few days before Saca will complete his third
year in office (June 1), the UTEC survey shows
71.2 percent consider there are no conditions to
foment economic development.
Of those surveyed, 66.13 percent consider the
high cost of living as the number one problem,
with low wages concerning 44.12 percent, 35.52
percent worrying about crime and the rest about
alcoholism and drug addiction.
Lack of health services was important for 10.96
percent of those interviewed and 8.36 percent
described education services as poor.
