Honduras on Carpet for New IMF Debts
The Honduran PN (National Party) took the government to task Wednesday for intending to sign a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund following the recovery delays of the National Electric Energy Company ENEE.

The situation is difficult because in less than 15 days the President Manuel Zelaya administration has acquired debits with international entities for 100 million dollars, pointed out Porfirio Lobo, leader of largest opposition force of the country.

"It is supposed to be dedicated to fighting poverty, in which more than 70 percent of the population live, however this new commitment shows the opposite. Honduras' foreign debt amounts to 5 billion dollars," he stressed.

Opposition PUD (Democratic Unification) joined the condemnation, pointing out that poverty and insecurity are not improving, and Executive declarations to the contrary are demagogic.

On May 10, the 55 deputies from PN abandoned Congress when the Liberal Party deputies approved the government request for a loan of 27 million dollars from Inter-American Development Bank.
