Guatemalan Youths Demand Concrete Programs
Representatives of some 75 member organizations of the Guatemalan Youth Coordinator demanded that political parties implement concrete programs for the benefit of that social sector, which is only taken into account to raise votes.

"We don't want to continue to be the labor force to distribute propaganda or beautiful and colorful pictures to animate the election campaign," Rosenda Coyon Ruano, of the Kaqchiquel ethnic group, told Prensa Latina.

She added that Guatemalan youths demand true political participation in both leading the organizations and holding posts to be part of the local and national power army.

For his part, group member Abner Paredes explained that the Coordinator's work goes beyond the election campaign and monitors the implementation of government policies aimed at improving the quality of life of Guatemalans aged 15-35.

The Coordinator expressed concern about the criminalization and stigmatization of youths, as well as the increase in violence and murders involving young people, so it demanded concrete projects to eradicate those scourges.
