Ortega Calls Opposition Traitors
Nicaraguan Sandinista President Daniel Ortega
called the opposition "traitors" who collude
against his government with the help of a
foreign power.
On addressing a rally on the 112th anniversary
of National Hero Augusto C. Sandino´s birthdate,
and without mentioning names, the statesman
exposed attempts to organize the divided local
conservatives.
"They are being paid to join in as Union
Nacional Opositora (gran UNO) to oust the
government of the people and since they are
working in silence I will not disclose names for
everyone knows who I mean."
However, in previous press conferences he
mentioned the US and its agencies.
Ortega also reminded his political foes that
Sandino warned "that the Yankees need puppets
for presidents of our Indigenous-Hispanic
peoples".
But the poor no longer accept chains, no longer
accept giving up, and are no longer for sale,
Ortega said.
