"Green" Emergency Alert in Effect
The rains of the last day had caused the
Comisión Nacional de Emergencia (CNE) to issue a
"green" alert.
The alert cover most of the country, with the
exception of the North Pacific (Guanacaste
region), where according to the Instituto
Meteorológico Nacional(IMN) - the weatherman -
weather conditions are normal. The rest of the
country has been inundated with torrential
rains.
The green alert is remind people to be aware of
the dangers of the heavy rain fall, like
mudslides, like the one that took the lives of
three people in Cartago Friday and flooding,
especially in areas prone to such.
The alert also placed the rescue teams of the
Cruz Roja (Red Cross) and the Bomberos
(firefighters) on standby, ready to mobilize at
any moment.
CNE authorities are asking people to take the
necessary steps during this period and take into
account advice from the security authorities
during the emergency.
