Inflation Goal
The chairman of the Banco Central de Costa Rica
(BCCR) - Central Bank of Costa Rica - Francisco
Gutierrez, asserted that the overall inflation
goal of 8 percent for the year 2007 is on track.
This even though, according to the Statistics
and Census Bureau, the index went 2.98 percent
up January through April, mainly because of the
increase in the prices of fuels, which have kept
on rising in recent months.
However, several experts believe that it will be
quite difficult to attain the goal set,
particularly because the the rising fuel prices.
