Croc Lookout Point With More
Security
One of the favourite stops on
the way to Playa Jacó and
further south to Quepos and
Manuel Antonio is to stop to see
the crocodiles.
The bridge over the Rio Tarcoles
has become a favourite stop for
many and has become a boom for
the criminals.
To combat the growing number of
assaults on tourists and
national alike, and card
break-ins, the Fuerza Pública
and the Policía Turística have
beefed up their patrols of the
area and increased the manpower
at the police "caseta de
seguridad" - stall - at the
south end of the bridge.
Due to the efforts of the Cámara
Nacional de Turismo, CANATUR,
the police caseta was
refurbished and more police
officials are now manning the
post, working in groups
protecting the curious who stop
to see the crocs and their
vehicles.
Police say that in some cases
visitors leave their cars open,
leaving behind their valuables
while taking in the sights.
Authorities say that the days
with the highest incidents of
crime are Saturdays and Sundays.
