Seaboard Marine Launches Second
Weekly to Costa Rica
Seaboard Marine will now offer
two inbound and outbound
sailings a week between the Port
of Miami and Panama and Costa
Rica.
With the Panama and Costa Rica
markets showing steady growth
for the last three years,
Seaboard Marine has been
chartering additional tonnage to
relieve the over-booked
situation since the fall of
2006.
The growth has been in US
exports to Panama and Costa
Rica, and in US imports from
Costa Rica of refrigerated
cargo. Roll-on/roll-off (ro/ro)
cargo to Panama and Costa Rica
has also shown growth, exceeding
Seaboard’s current vessel
capacity.
Another load on/load off (lo/lo)
vessel will be added to the
carrier’s current two lo/lo and
ro/ro vessels, to accomplish the
second sailing.
Each of the vessels will follow
a fourteen-day rotation that
will comprise two loops:
The first loop is the original
rotation of Miami (Friday) >
Puerto Limon (Tuesday) >
Cristobal (Wednesday) > Puerto
Limon (Thursday) > AM Santo
Tomas (Sunday) > PM Puerto
Cortes (Sunday) > Miami
(Wednesday).
The second loop will leave Miami
(Wednesday) > Cristobal (Sunday)
> Puerto Limon (Monday) >
arriving Miami on Thursday and
leaving on Friday.
Of the eight sailings a month,
five to six will have ro/ro
capacity.
