CARICOM-Central America Seek
Green Policy
Heads of State of the Caribbean
Community (CARICOM) and the
Central American Integration
System (SICA) to meet here to
search for common policies to
defend the environment.
The meeting is scheduled for May
12 and will include Caribbean
prime ministers and presidents
of the Central American nations
to debate an agenda geared to
strengthen ties of
collaboration.
The talks will also deal with
climate change, energy policies
and programs to mitigate effects
of natural disasters.
Before the summit there will be
a meeting of foreign affairs
ministers of CARICOM followed by
a meeting of the SICA Council of
Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
Belize holds the pro tempore
presidency of SICA, a mandate
set to strengthen bilateral
ties.
As a CARICOM member, the Belize
government will also assume,
this year, the presidency of the
Council of Relations on the
Community and Foreign Affairs.
