Ecuador's Correa most popular
president in Latin America
Ecuador's President Rafael
Correa is the most popular
president in Latin America with
76 percent approval ratings,
polling firm Cedatos said in a
report on Monday.
The report showed that Correa
had 73 percent approval ratings
in January and his popularity
hit 69 percent low in March.
But Correa's approval rate rose
to 76 percent after citizens
massively backed his call for a
constituent assembly to revise
the nation's constitution in an
April 15 referendum, according
to Cedatos, which bases its
survey on polls undertaken by
private polling companies across
the continent.
Colombia's Alvaro Uribe was
ranked the second in the report
with 73 percent and followed by
El Salvador's Antonio Saca with
72percent, and Paraguay's
Nicanor Duarte was the last one
with just 33 percent in the list
of 16 Latin American nations'
presidents, the report said.
In the Americas as a whole, the
last one on the list was
President of the United States
George W. Bush, with 29 percent
approval rate in a February New
York Times poll, Cedatos
reported.
