Arias Promises To Fix Problems
At ICE
In his May 1st speech to the
Legislative Assembly and the
Costa Rican people, president
Oscar Arias Sanchez, said he is
committed to fixing the
"mistakes of the past" by the
Instituto Costarricense de
Electricidad (ICE), the state
monopoly on electrical power and
telecommunications.
PLN Continues To Rule in The
Legislature
As expected, though there was
some small doubt, the
Legislative Assembly remains
under the direction of the
Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN),
under the skillful management of
Francisco Antonio Pacheco.
Hydro Electrical Plants Become A
Headache For ICE
The hydro electric generating
plants at Cachí, Angostura and
Arenal has become a big headache
for the Instituto Costarricense
de Electricidad (ICE) after
being hailed as great
investments.
Low Turn
Out For May 1st March
With some delays and less
attendance from the past years,
workers marched on Avenida
Segunda as part of the
celebrations of "el dia del
trabajador" - labour day.
