Internet For All Students, Arias
Promises
While in Colombia yesterday,
Costa Rican president, Oscar
Arias, promised that all
students in the country will
have access to the internet.
The prez said the objective of
his plan is for a universal
coverage by 2010 and asked the
other countries in the region to
reduce their military spending
and invest more in education.
Arias, speaking at a conference
of the Microsoft Government
Leaders Forum in Cartagena, made
the promise. Arias also met with
Microsoft founder, Bill Gates,
during the conference and asked
him for his support for his
youth program.
Gates, during the meeting with
Arias, commented that he intends
to visit Costa Rica.
