Declares Emergency State
After
three days of severe rain battering the Central
American region, Honduran authorities ordered
one-month emergency state, starting on Saturday.
The rain and landslide killed seven Hondurans,
provoked hundred of victims, houses and electric
power collapse, noted the Contingencies
Permanent Commission (COPECO).
People living near the mountains and rivers
basin must move to safety places since the
weather forecast rain increase, warned the
entity.
COPECO reported that most of the victims were
carried out by mud and Humaya affluent current
in Comayagua city.
Capital Mayor Ricardo Alvarez told the press
that President Manuel Zelaya allotted part of
Honduran Social Investment Fund to try to
compensate the damages.
Several Honduran departments still remain on
alert since Monday because of the weather
deterioration in the Central American region
characterized by heavy rains and powerful
electric shock.
