Central
America-CARICOM Summit to Discuss Environment
Honduran
President Manuel Zelaya confirmed on Wednesday
that the summit of the heads of government of
Central America and CARICOM (Caribbean
Community) will focus their discussions on the
protection of the environment in the region.
Without specifying any date for the meeting,
scheduled for next year, the Central American
head of state said that the event will help to
collect information on the initiatives
implemented to achieve an environmental balance.
Zelaya informed that the destruction of forests
was reduced from 395,000 and 69,000 acres in
Honduras this year.
Honduras is the second most important Latin
American water and oxygen reserve, after the
Amazonas.
