El
Salvador on Eve of Crisis
El
Salvador is steeped in serious social and
economic deterioration caused mainly by the
government of Antonio Saca, which could lead to
a social crisis, warned the Central American
University (CAU).
El Proceso weekly, published by CAU, assured the
country is in a state of unprecedented post war
instability.
Evaluations of the Jesuit university agree with
several surveys about the three years of the
government of President Saca.
There is also a close relationship to the
criteria of the Inter American Platform Members
of Human Rights, Democracy and Development that
is formed by 20 non-governmental organizations.
The Platform claims that the Saca administration
is remotely ignorant of Salvadoran reality
because the president is not interested "in
solving the problems of the majority."
It explained that, in the 18 years of
government, the Alianza Republicana Nacionalista
has only directly favored business and financial
capital.
