Salvadoran Church: No
Troops to Iraq
The Salvadoran Church
strongly rejected on
Monday President Elias
Antonio Saca's
announcement that a
ninth group of
Salvadoran soldiers will
go to Iraq next month.
"I've said it before.
There is no need to send
soldiers to Iraq,"
Archbishop of San
Salvador Fernando Saenz
Lacalle told press.
Despite international
rejection of the US-UK
invasion, El Salvador is
the only Latin American
country with soldiers on
Iraqi soil.
The Salvadoran
government has kept a
battalion of 380
soldiers in Iraq since
August 2003, and
relieves them every six
